Hello World, Are You There? It's Me, Michelle

It’s been over a month since I’ve posted on this blog and I’m sure you’re wondering where I’ve disappeared to… if you’re even still around to read this blog. I did kind of vanish into thin air after promising to be more active on the blog but honestly -- 2019 (although we are only three month into it) hasn’t quite started off on the right foot.

Month in Review: January

And just like that… January was over! Well, not quite -- but this is the last week of the first month of the year and I thought of a new way to hold myself accountable for the goals that I’ve set up for myself this year; to blog about them. Back in my Look Back at 2018 post, I mentioned that I have a few goals that I will be working towards throughout the year and in my post last week, I mentioned that I would be starting a new series every month and this is it. I’m calling it “Month in Review.” Catchy.. I know.

My Favorite Looks from Awards Season (So Far...)

Awards Season is here and so far we’ve seen the Golden Globes and the Critics’ Choice Awards with the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards right around the corner, culminated by the Oscars, of course, which don’t air until late February. Or Grammys if you’re more of a music fiend. Outside of the fact that I love awards shows because I love movies and television, the fashion has got to be one of the best things about it.

A Look Back at 2018

I have a bit of a tradition when it comes to the New Year -- my dad and I toast to the New Year with pink champagne and I tell him about what I hope to accomplish. Sometimes, it’s fairly simple things, like making sure all of my dishes are washed before going to bed at the end of the night and other times --like this New Year’s-- it’s things that are fairly substantial; like have a first draft of the children’s book I want to write. This 2019 goal felt daunting when I spoke the words aloud and it actually caused me to realize something about myself that I’ve always known by have kind of ignored: I’m easily discouraged.

A Very Harry Christmas Part Deux

Speaking of presents, however, if you’re anything like me --which is a procrastinator-- then you’re probably running out a time to purchase gifts and you also have absolutely no idea what to get the people who are nearest and dearest in your life. To add to the already over-saturated internet market of gift guides, I thought I’d do a part two to my Very Harry Christmas gift guide that I did last year because who doesn’t want to give their loved ones gifts that are inspired by Harry Styles?!

2018 Sephora VIB Sale Guide

The Sephora VIB Sale is the time where pretty much everyone and their mother goes crazy at the makeup store. 20% off may sound like nothing, but for a store that carries products that are over $100 that you’ve been eyeing for ages -- 20% off sounds like heaven. And, because it’s holiday time (this sale is actually a holiday bonus!) and many people are starting to shop for friends and family (or themselves… I don’t judge), I thought this week called for a shopping list to take advantage of this sale.

3 Most Instagrammable Spots in Los Angeles

One of the most difficult (and I use that word lightly) parts about being a blogger (am I blogger?!) is coming up with new and creative ideas for photos. I am the first to admit that I probably have it a bit easier than others -- after all, I do live in Los Angeles and there are plenty of places to get great photos for Instagram, but it almost seems as if the opportunities are endless and it sometimes can be overwhelming.

REWIND: My Favorite Blog Posts Thus Far

Every now and again, I get the idea that I should reintroduce myself. If you’re stumbling onto this blog as a fan of fashion, or beauty, or Harry Styles, I bet you take pause for just a minute to wonder what the hell they all have to do with one another? The simple answer is: absolutely nothing. The more complicated answer: I love them all and they all define me in some way… hence the blog.

Harry Styles' 5 Best Suits From His American Dates

Well guys, this is it -- the end of an era some would say. Now that Harry Styles: Live on Tour is over and done, it’s time for me to do my very last round-up of my favorite suits from this tour. Just like the one I did for his European stops, I will be highlighting five suits that I think were Harry’s best. I also did a roundup post for his Oceania stops, although it only had three suits, as there weren’t as many dates in the Oceania countries.

Harry Styles: Live on Tour The Forum, Night 1

I sit here and write this blog post with a heavy heart. Why you ask? Harry Styles: Live on Tour is over, which --in turn-- means that the HS1 (as we have dubbed it) era has ended. I know what you’re going to say -- Harry will be back, HS2 will be here before you know it (preferably with a better title than Harry Styles), and you’ll have more suits to document over on your Instagram. And duh, you’re right -- but it that doesn’t stop me from being sad.

An Ode to Kate Spade

A push notification from The Hollywood Reporter slid onto the top of my screen with the simple headline of Kate Spade, 55, Has Died. Not even five seconds later, E! News and Buzzfeed News all showed up on my phone with similar headlines and I honestly didn’t believe it at first. As soon as I got into the office, I read countless articles on her death and perused the tweets that poured in on Twitter and truthfully -- I was devastated.

Things That Happen When You're 30...

I don’t know about you, but I am always trying to find a unique way to do something that has already been done, and baby showers are no exception to that rule of mine. While I do not want children myself, I’ve been a part of putting together a coupe of baby showers and really the first impression of whether or not the baby shower going to be a good one is the invitation isn’t it?

The London Guide (Plus a 4-Day Itinerary!)

Before I left for my little holiday in London, I mentioned possibly putting together a roundup post of my time there because I was there for quite awhile (10 days!), but then I had the brilliant idea of doing a travel guide rather than a roundup post. Whilst I was researching for London I found a travel guide hard to come by, so this post is basically what I did in London, where I stayed, what I think is worth it and not worth it, and everything in between!

The Sunshine Blogger Award

The Sunshine Blogger Award is an award given to bloggers by bloggers to those they believe bring happiness and sunshine to the blogging community, and I am so happy to be nominated. The inception of this blog came when I was bored at work one day and had long since been frustrated with the fact that I wasn’t doing anything creative in my spare time -- and thus, Dressing With Style(s) was born in November of 2017 and it’s been a rollercoaster. And while I am not a big fan of actual rollercoasters, I have thoroughly enjoyed the one that is this blog.
