The Sunshine Blogger Award

The Sunshine Blogger Award is an award given to bloggers by bloggers to those they believe bring happiness and sunshine to the blogging community, and I am so happy to be nominated. The inception of this blog came when I was bored at work one day and had long since been frustrated with the fact that I wasn’t doing anything creative in my spare time -- and thus, Dressing With Style(s) was born in November of 2017 and it’s been a rollercoaster. And while I am not a big fan of actual rollercoasters, I have thoroughly enjoyed the one that is this blog.

All Black Everything (Kind Of!)

Harry is no stranger to wearing all black (the pap pictures from New York City in January of this year come to mind immediately 🔥) and I myself love a good all black outfit; I think it looks very chic and like you're seconds away from saying "f*ck everything" and that is always the look I'm going for. This outfit, however, had a little something extra -- the “Styles” embroidered on it.

The Perfect Transitional Spring Outfit

The outfit that is the inspiration for today’s blog post is from circa 2014 (a Harry era I am not overly familiar with) I love it because it’s simple; striped shirt, faded black jeans, and boots. It’s easy to make this a “I’m going for coffee and to the mall outfit” -- which is what I am going for in my rendition. But, it could also be a “we’re going on a date to a dinner in a movie” kind of outfit -- just throw on some heeled booties and the hat and voilà, it just became a bit more dressy.

Joining Up the Dots

While it would be rather easy to find a black button-down with white polka dots, I sometimes like to choose pieces that still have the essence of what he is wearing, but with my own stylish flare. Which is why I instead opted for a round neck top that is unfortunately not sold anymore but I gave you two options of different styles. I, like Harry, also had on ripped black jeans and booties -- although mine are a different color and have a bit of a heel.

Pink Is the Only True Rock & Roll Color

I am totally not kidding when I say I have been dying to write this blog post because this outfit is literally my favorite. I’d venture to say that this outfit was the catalyst for the blog. Harry Styles wore a drool-worthy pink suit at his performance on The Today Show in May of 2017 and I lusted after that pink suit with the same desire I harbor for cake and sweets and a well-made gin and tonic. I wanted a pink suit. I had to have one.

You Flower, You Feast

This outfit was kind of difficult for a number of reasons: it took me ages to find out where this outfit was worn. I knew it was a One Direction concert and I knew it was 2015 and I was expecting the world wide web to fill in the blanks… it’s called world wide for a reason. However, it led to to many an article about how much Harry likes wearing floral print. Which, I assure you, I've read all of these articles multiple times.

Pinstripes?! More Like WIN Stripes...

It shouldn't come as any surprise that this outfit is inspired by circa 2015 Harry Styles --although I think technically this one is from late 2014. As I wade through the seemingly infinite pictures of Harry Styles to find outfit inspiration, I inadvertently fall more into the One Direction fandom. I have found there are certain outfits of Harry's that people love (the pink Edward Sexton suit, the red floral Gucci suit from the last One Direction performance on X Factor, etc.) and this outfit is one of them.

Remember Everything Will Be Alright

NYE outfits are usually all about the sparkle, and the one that I chose was no different. The problem I ran into, however, was finding an outfit of Harry's that could serve as the inspiration for the dress. Usually, it's the other way around -- I find an outfit of his I want to recreate, then find the pieces to do so. But, NYE was different -- I instead bought the dress on a whim after I saw it on one of those fast fashion websites and impulse bought, knowing I wanted it for New Year's.
