Remember Everything Will Be Alright
So I know I said in my last post that I would have something more office appropriate, but then I remembered that it's New Year's Eve and I should probably have something more glittery and over the top -- which are two things that are not hard to come by when it comes to Harry Styles.
The problem I ran into, however, was finding an outfit of Harry's that could serve as the inspiration for the dress. Usually, it's the other way around -- I find an outfit of his I want to recreate, then find the pieces to do so. But, NYE was different -- I instead bought the dress on a whim knowing I wanted it for New Year's.
Then, I had an idea -- what if I found suit that I either couldn't recreate (all that custom Gucci, man) or would have a hard time recreating and use the color schemes as inspiration for my New Year's Eve look? After congratulating myself on this fabulous idea, I went on the hunt for looks that could serve as inspiration.
I could actually probably find a red pinstripe suit like the one he's wearing here, which is at the 2014 British Fashion Awards, if I believed in myself and tried hard enough, but the Gucci number on the right (which he wore at his London tour stop in October of this year) would be a bit more difficult.
So instead, I took the basic color scheme of these two suits --gold, red/pink, and black-- and used them as inspiration for this dress.
It's from a place called Shein, but last I checked, it was sold out. Here are a few options from Lulus, Boohoo, and ASOS. I've also linked the dress that I'm wearing above just in case it comes back into stock.
But basically -- the glitter and gold color from the Gucci suit coupled with the red of the pinstripes is the inspiration for this look. It's like if these two suits mated and the baby got all of the recessive genes -- that would be my dress. I finished this outfit with simple black shoes from ASOS á la Brit Awards 2014.
So this is my Harry Styles inspired NYE look -- if you squint hard enough it's nearly identical. Whatever you're doing for New Year's please be safe and don't drink and drive.
Side note: Is Sign of the Times the best NYE song or what?!
