Pinstripes?! More Like WIN Stripes...
Let's take a trip down memory lane shall we? To about two weeks ago when my best friend shot these photos while I was in Dallas for the holidays. It was a gloomy twenty degrees out, and the windchill made it feel like fifteen degrees. But, alas, we got all the shots we needed.
It shouldn't come as any surprise that this outfit is inspired by circa 2015 Harry Styles --although I think technically this one is from late 2014. As I wade through the seemingly infinite pictures of Harry Styles to find outfit inspiration, I inadvertently fall more into the One Direction fandom. I have found there are certain outfits of Harry's that people love (the pink Edward Sexton suit, the red floral Gucci suit from the last One Direction performance on X Factor, etc.) and the outfit below is one of them.
I appreciate this outfit because it's simple: black, stripes, coat -- it was a breeze to re-create. And, it also falls into my category of "workwear appropriate" that I have a difficult time deciphering... just ask the Director of HR at my job.
Like always, there are some minor differences between my recreation and his actual outfit. For starters the coat (which is in petite and fits like a f*cking glove) on him is a straight line while I chose one with a bit of a flair (or a LOT of flair actually) for added figure. My pants are a bit baggier than his and a bit longer, but that's because I'm short AF, pants don't ever fit me, and I'm too lazy to get everything tailored.
My shirt is also a V-neck as opposed to his straight collared shirt and I chose this shirt because A -- it's a g*ddamn essential, shirt literally goes with everything and B -- he's doing that unbuttoned shirt thing and like... that totally wouldn't work for me. Or maybe it would...? *makes a mental note to try that look out*
Also, I'm wearing heels instead of the black boots that he's sporting. You could totally do this look with boots but I was in Texas and had about *thismuch* space left in my suitcase after cramming everything but the kitchen sink in it. Needless to say, another pair of boots wouldn't have fit -- but these pair of heels did so here we are.
I think that pretty much wraps this whole thing up! The next few weeks' pictures are also taken in Texas! Some of them you may have to excuse the holiday decoration in the background, as we Texans refuse to let go of Christmas until absolutely necessary... but everyone does that... right?
