Welcome to my blog. I take pictures of myself trying to dress like Harry Styles. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. Hope you have a nice stay!

5 Beauty and Skincare Favorites for April

5 Beauty and Skincare Favorites for April

We have a complicated relationship you and I -- I tell you to come back next week for a certain outfit, you come back, and instead I have put up an April Favorites. I swear it just happens that way; I get all geared up to start writing for the particular outfit and then I suddenly feel as if I have an even better idea. In the this case -- I wanted to do an April Favorites.

Favorites posts are some of my favorite (mind the pun) to read -- it’s where I find fashion pieces to purchase, new beauty products to try, and new music to listen to. I’ve toyed with the idea of posting favorites on this blog before and I have some ideas for some Harry Styles-centric ones but I first wanted to try my hand at a more traditional Favorite post. So, without further ado, let’s get on to the favorites.

1. Herbivore Lapis Balancing Facial Oil

As a human with very oily skin I avoided using facial oils for as long as possible (yes, I know… I’m supposed to use oil… you don’t have to tell me), but it’s mostly because I couldn’t find an oil that I felt really made a difference in my skin. I tried this on a whim and ended up loving it; not only do I think that it does make a difference in terms of how balanced my skin is (meaning oiliness), it cleared the acne that I had and did away with the dullness. I use four drops twice a day and it’s $72.

2. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Chamomile, and Lavender

From one skin issue to another -- aging. I turned 30 this year and almost immediately noticed a few more fine lines around my mouth, on my forehead, and underneath my eyes. I adopted an anti-aging eye cream and facial cream but, I wanted to add something a bit extra to my everyday makeup routine as well. I previously used the rosewater spray by Mario Badescu and also loved that one, but last time I had an Ulta run I picked this one up and I love it. It smells great, is affordable, and when I’m 80 looking like a 30 year old I chalk it all up to this.

3. Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Twitterpated

I am going to be straight and honest and say that I purchased this eyeshadow because I love the word twitterpated. Does it make anyone else think of Bambi? The cute little skunk scene? Anyway, that was the only reason I bought this but it --thankfully-- turned out to be beautiful. It’s a pink-based shadow with golden shimmer that lasts on the eye all day. I like the pair it with Trick from the Naked 3 palette. Colourpop is super affordable and their eyeshadow formula is incredibly unique, it’s like a cushion-gel-powder. So that’s reason enough to get your hands on this shadow. That and Bambi.

4. Physicians Formula Butter Highlighter in Rose Gold

I’m going to start this off with a gripe, but a very true gripe nonetheless -- Physicians Formula’s color ranges are absolute sh*t. Usually I can never find a color of anything that works well on my skin whether that is blush, bronzer, or highlighter; but, it seems as if they are expanding their range just a little. Not only have I been wearing the Healthy Foundation that they just came out with, I also picked this up at Ulta because I kept hearing everyone talk about how it smells like butter. Spoiler alert: it does. And it also leaves the perfect sheen on my skin that isn’t overly blinding but does looks beautiful in sunlight. Which is all I need.

5. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Ebony

Let me let you in on a little secret of my beauty routine: I love brows. It’s my favorite part of doing my makeup and it’s the part that I spend the most time on because I think it really makes your face. It probably goes without saying, but I am a brow product snob and, after using Benefit’s Ka-Brow (pretty good), I decided to venture back into the world of ABH and snagged the duo. It comes with two colors and in the shade I wear, they’re both brown, although one is a blackened brown. I use the darker one more just because I like really bold brows, but the fact that it comes with two shades allows you to make the ombré brow more easily. Hands down one of the best brow products I’ve ever used.

Bonus -- April's Song of the Month: "Body Talk" by Foxes. A fun dance song with some sad ass lyrics -- I've listened to this song at least once a day every day this month.

And that --my friends-- is an April Favorites done! I will be back next week with an actual outfit. I promise (Or do I?!)

Stay Stylish
xoxo, Michelle
