Sephora VIB Sale Shopping List + Recommendations
Sephora is (in)famous for never having sales; that’s why the Beauty Insider Appreciation Sale is such a big deal! Sure, 20% off seems like nothing (sales tax in Los Angeles is 9.5%), but when your favorite beauty store sells foundations that retail for over $100 (hello La Mer The Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation SPF 20!), that 20% can be the make or break for finally getting your hands on something you’ve been coveting for forever.
As a nearly lifelong makeup lover and a VIB Rouge member (which means I spend a grotesque amount of money at Sephora), when I saw this coupon in my mailbox I instantly lit up with joy because Sephora doesn’t usually have a sale in August!
In case you haven’t heard the news, Sephora is changing the way their Beauty Insider program works, although most of the changes affect Rouge members, it might give you more of an incentive to spend even more money at Sephora! Rouge members now enjoy 1.5 points for every dollar spent rather than just 1; you now have the choice of adding 250 points to your Beauty Insider bank for your birthday instead of just the gift (also applies to VIB members); Rouge members can exchange points for $100 to spend at Sephora; and also have the choice of redeeming full-size products in exchange for your points instead of just the trial sizes (also applies to VIBs.)
The sale is going on now for VIB Rouge members and the 20% off can be redeemed an UNLIMITED amount of times in store, but the promo codes; YESROUGE, YESVIB, YESINSIDER, can only be used once online. THE STAND OUTS
Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina
Norvina here, Norvina there… Norvina everywhere! Are we getting tired of hearing about the Norvina palette from ABH yet?! I know literally every blogger, vlogger, and Instagrammer has talked about the latest eyeshadow venture from the brow experts but, we have to admit, it’s a stunning palette. I don’t have too much purple in my eyeshadow collection and --seeing as I’m a fan of other ABH palettes like Soft Glam and Prism-- this may be the perfect time to get outside of my comfort zone.
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
Speaking of comfort zones, a Sephora shopping list isn’t a Sephora shopping list without a foundation and we’ve got Too Faced Born This Way in tow. About a year ago Jackie Aina revealed that she was working with Too Faced Cosmetics (one of my favorite brands!) to expand their Born This Way foundation shade range. When this foundation launched eons ago, I remember heading to Sephora to pick it up, only to be disappointed by the shade range. As a brown-skinned girl with red undertones, there was literally nothing in the initial launch of the foundation that matched me.
If I am not mistaken they expanded on their initial launch shades, but the darker foundations get, the more golden the undertone tends to be, which never look good on me. Now that there has been yet another expansion and I’ve seen the shades swatched, this may be something that I pick up in the sale!
Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eye Shadow
From one beauty blogger recommendation to another, this shopping lists rounds out with the Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eye Shadow, which I first saw in Fleur De Force’s New in Beauty for the month of August. I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t own a lot of Hourglass; their products are a bit pricey and I hardly ever come away with things that I love, so I tend to just breeze by their display in store.
However, when I saw these on Fleur’s channel, my jaw dropped; they are so pigmented, each shade is unique to the next, and they seem like they have incredible staying power (which I am all about considering my skin could win a “Most Oily” award!) Again, I am not too keen on the price --nearly $30 for an eyeshadow-- but with the 20% off, this is the time to give new, more expensive things a go!
SO, WHAT’S NEXT?!
