90s Throwback Chic
Another week, another blog post. So far I’ve stuck to my guns and I’ve done one outfit post, one non-outfit post every other week, and now we’re back to an outfit post. We’re pretty much at the tail end of summer (and before you say anything -- I know the solstice doesn't end until nearly the end of September) so I wanted to put out one last summer appropriate outfit that may be a bit more Clueless inspired than Harry Styles inspired.
After this look I will probably start transitioning more into autumn wear considering it starts getting a bit chillier out come September. Although, I do live in Los Angeles so you will probably still see a few dresses and short sleeves come autumn because LA just isn’t that cold -- but it’s all about layering right?
Now, shall we get to the outfit?
This outfit also appeared in the post that I did chronicling Harry’s Top 5 Suits From His European Tour Dates. It actually took the top spot for a number of reasons; the print is uniques, it fits him amazingly well, and I love the fancy air the suit gives off with the peaked lapels; though he brings of bit of casualness to it with the vest top underneath rather than a button down. After scouring the Calvin Klein website for this print (despite knowing I wouldn’t find it considering this suit is custom made), I damn near gave up trying to find a pink plaid piece of clothing that I really liked until I found my dress on Motel Rocks.
A few things to note when it comes to Harry’s look; the lines in his plaid pattern are red, the pink base of the suit is quite dusky, and his trousers have that side paneling that he loves so much in black. I searched high and low for a print that was close to this before ultimately deciding to (sort of!) just go my own way.
I knew that I wanted to embody that causal aura versus the fancy one and I wanted to take this opportunity to kind of do a throwback to the 90s, seeing as all of those styles (pun totes intended) are coming back and plaid was a huge print back in the 90s -- hence the Clueless reference. 😏 Yes , I’m aware that Cher and Dionne’s plaid were yellow and black respectively, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to mention that film seeing as it’s one of my absolute favorites.
This dress combines all of the main colors of Harry’s suit; pink, black, and red and throws in a bit of white as well, which I think helps with the casualness. The pattern of the plaid is, of course different, and the pink on my dress doesn’t have the same dusky look at Harry’s, but I do like the way that the black is incorporated; in the plaid print itself on my dress.
This dress paired perfectly with the black Steve Madden sandals that I wore with it, which makes it the perfect end of summer outfit. You could also pair this with Converse or Vans if you’re really into the those 90s casual vibes.
And that, ladies and gents, is just one of the many 2018 tour outfits we’ll be recreating!
SO, WHAT’S NEXT?!
The Sephora Beauty Insider Appreciation event is kicking off on the 24th of August and I’ll be rounding up the products that I have my eye on for this 20% off event. I’ll give you all the details about the sale in my next post and I am super happy to have another beauty post in the works considering how much I love makeup! And --of course-- more outfits will be gracing these blog pages.
Until next time!
